On Monday students were introduced to a counting provocation.
Students began naturally counting by ones. When asked to prove their answer they started counting all over again. On day 2 and 3, students slowly started changing the way they counted their items. They began asking for elastics, bags, stickly notes and chart paper to track their amounts. After hearing a number of different strategies from their classmates, students began deepening their understanding of numbers, counting efficiently, and the base 10 system. Ask your child what they have been counting, are they grouping items efficiently, and how their understanding has changed.

- Please remember that as the weather becomes more wet and cold, we will continue going outside for recesses. We will only stay inside if it is pouring rain, or if it's -20C. Please ensure your child leaves in the morning with mitts, hats, jackets, boots, etc.
