Hello families,

Here are some classroom updates from this week!

In math, students are working on their number sense using a number line. We are learning how to jump forwards and backwards. When adding 5+7 for example, ask your child where they start, and how many jumps they do. How would they solve 16-8?

As entomologists, we have been watching videos, asking questions, and learning how to look closely when sketching. Today we went outside to see what insects are crawling around Royal Oak! We were very excited to find ants, ladybugs, spiders...and one group even caught a fly! Ask your child what they caught and what they noticed about their insects.

We also had an opportunity to use Scratch on the ipads to learn some coding. Students were challenged to make an insect move based on their knowledge of insects so far. Many students created butterflies, flies, ladybugs, etc. Ask your child what they created and how it moved!
